Kashwére Creates The Ultimate Luxury Robe in Collaboration with Much-Anticipated The Chatwal New York

NEW YORK, NY (December 21, 2009) - Kashwére has today unveiled its bespoke luxury robe created exclusively for guests of The Chatwal New York in a unique collaboration with the deluxe hotel opening in spring 2010 in the heart of Manhattan’s theater district. Re-creating the globally recognized iconic glamour and style of 1930’s Gotham, The Chatwal New York has joined forces with Kashwére to provide an exquisite prototype robe which took over a year to perfect. Merri Gleckler, President Kashwére, said, “It was an absolute pleasure to work on The Chatwal robe project.  Usually the piping on a bathrobe is rarely the concern of a General Manager, however Joel is very particular about what he wants for his clientele, which is something which I feel will resonate in the property itself when it opens.  Most hotels would use microfiber on only one side of their bath robe’s belt to save money, however Joel sought to use microfiber on both sides and then added plush, silver, satin piping for a truly rich effect.”

Joel Freyberg, General Manager, The Chatwal New York said, “I selected Kashwére for The Chatwal for the superior comfort and styling and weight of the bathrobe.  I always feel that an excellent quality bathrobe is one that you genuinely enjoy looking forward to putting on and hate to take off.  What I liked so much about working with Kashwére is their detailing in the products, which are all hand finished, providing for a superior robe.  Similarly, the microfiber and terry lined fabric in The Chatwal robe is luxuriously soft and very light weight. The finished product, which took a little over a year to perfect, includes a customized logo and embroidery in a metallic silver thread especially created for The Chatwal. I wanted the robe to have that chic 1930’s art-deco feeing…. something that would resemble the dressing gown and robes that were used by the great actors in the classic movies of that era.  Rather than going with a one-size fits all mentality, I selected two sizes of robes for The Chatwal to accommodate all body types and sizes.  After all, we are all unique."

Guestrooms at The Chatwal New York will capture the clubby, elegant and comfortably chic atmosphere of this New York landmark. Of the 88 guestrooms, 38 are larger suites, and behind each door, no attention to detail has been spared.  In-room finishes include fine suede covered walls and leather-wrapped double closets, the Chatwal’s retro playing cards and a specially crafted Backgammon set. The attention to modern small touches makes a difference - complimentary internet access, a laptop-sized safe, a 42-inch HD flat screen IP television with Blueray DVD and multi-language options, a movie library, and in-room stereo system with an iPod dock all provide a comfortably wired experience.
