Las Alcobas, Mexico City
Mexico City’s newest small luxury hotel (just 36 rooms) opens its doors in January 2010. An intimate seven-story hotel located in the Polanco neighborhood, one of the city’s best locales for fashionable shopping, dining and entertainment. Translated to “the alcoves,” Las Alcobas was custom-designed by Yabu Pushelberg to reflect the property’s namesake and includes original artwork by contemporary artists and three penthouses with wraparound terraces overlooking the city. Downstairs, NEMI, a 70-seat gourmet restaurant by renowned chef Michael Mina, offers high-end cuisine specializing in seafood. The Aurora Spa at Las Alcobas is influenced by an ancient way of life - utilizing indigenous resources in the signature treatments, created with medical contributions that pay homage to Mexico’s traditions.
